☀️ Why This Pup’s Not Glamping This Week

The camper is just sitting there–taunting me from the driveway. I’ve gone out twice with Mom while she put in clean dishes and made the beds, but she was just fooling me. They even hooked it up and drove around the block to make sure the hitch was adjusted correctly, but are they going to take the dog camping this week ? NO! We’re just hanging out at home, and I’m bored.

Meanwhile, Mom’s been in the pool—a LOT. And me? I’ve been lying in front of the box fan, losing fur like a shedding Yeti. They’ve run the vacuum three times today, and every time, it scared me half to death. Rude.

Normally, I’d be out sniffing rabbit trails, rolling in the grass, and barking at squirrels. But not this week. Nope. This week, I’m stuck inside with the A/C cranked on high.

Wanna know why?

Because it’s hellishly hot outside.
I’m talking “bake cupcakes in the car” hot.
And while I’m a brave, rugged adventure dog, there’s one rule I live by:

I will not put my paws on pavement when it feels like lava.

All kinds of bad things could happen:

🐾 My paws could burn on hot gravel or blacktop
🐾 I could roast in my own fur coat
🐾 I might get overheated, even with shade and fresh water

And the worst side effect of all this heat–
🐾 I smell like a dog. Not the fresh-from-the-groomer kind—more like “what did you roll in, Bear?”

And if you don’t trust my expert opinion, check this out:
How to Protect Your Dog’s Paws from Hot Pavement – AKC.org

That article even talks about heat exhaustion, signs to watch for, and how to help your pup cool down before things get scary. You know, in case I haven’t already convinced you.

So for now, I’m chewing on ice cubes, napping in my cozy chair, and dreaming of cooler hikes in the mountains.

Whether you’re a fellow pup or the human who drives one around, listen up:
If I’m not going outside because of the heat, maybe you shouldn’t either. It’s not good to take your dog camping in hot weather.

Stay cool out there. Literally.
