What It’s Like
Wide paved roads, towering hardwoods that provide shade even on the hottest days, and modern amenities make this campground one of the best. We arrived and checked in with the friendly camp attendant who surprised us by letting us know our campsite backed up to the playground. Not ideal for everybody, but when you are traveling with six and eight year old grandsons, it’s perfect.

Campsites & Loops
- Level & shaded: Most pads are nicely level with even gravel; great canopy in summer.
- Hookups: RV sites include electric and water. Dump station on site.
- Waterfront picks: If sunrise coffee by the shore is your thing, aim for the waterfront row when booking.
- Arrival tip: Try to arrive before dark to scout low branches and pick the best approach angle.
Amenities You’ll Actually Use
Swimming Beach
A roped-off swim area with a gently sloped, sort of sandy shoreline. Our grandsons weren’t too enthusiastic about lake swimming, but they happily collected “sea shells” for their mother. Because of the litter and rocky bottom, water shoes are recommended.

Boat Ramps & Fishing Pier
The paved ramp has a manageable grade for larger boats, with a large parking area for trailers. No boat? The pier gives anglers a shady spot to try their luck. Fish include bass, crappie, catfish, drum, bream, and others.

Playground
The campground was close enough I could watch the boys play while I got the fire started. There is a large, modern climbing structure with multiple slides and monkey bars. Closer to the beach, we found a swing set facing the lake. We saw everyone from toddlers to grandparents taking a turn on the swings. It was a great spot to watch the boats on the lake.

Bathhouses & Laundry
The bathhouse was clean, modern, and not scary at all. (You know how some of them are dark and full of bugs). It was serviced early each morning and always fully stocked with a pleasant smell. There is a handy outdoor shower to wash of lake water and beach “sand” and a washer/dryer at the main bathhouse.
Keeping Grandkids Entertained
Our boys loved the playground, beach “treasures,” and morning walks around the loop. We scoped out a few waterfront campsites we want to try to snag on future outings.
We brought outdoor games like disc shooters, cornhole, and horseshoes which they happily shared with other kids at the campground. We spent the time between dinner and bedtime playing Pictionary and Battleship. They never even asked for a tablet or television all weekend.

To give them a break from the heat and the campground, we drove 5 minutes to Grand Rivers one evening. It is always nice stroll the marina to see the sailboats and grab ice cream at the Dairy Dream. It makes a great end to the day and sets the tone for bedtime.
