Getting Started with RV Life over 55

Welcome to the exciting world of Glamping—it’s freeing and empowering…but getting started with RV life can be a little overwhelming at first. There’s so much to learn: what kind of tow vehicle you need, how to hitch and unhitch, what gear is actually useful (and what is just a waste of precious storage space), where to go, what to pack, how to cook, and what all those switches and hoses in your camper actually do.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed and confused by all the YouTube videos people recommend. And every veteran RVer at the campground has their own opinion of the best way to do things. Sometimes the more you hear–the more confused you get. I know it happened to us when we were trying to learn about tongue weight and leveling hitches. We watched three or four recommended videos (like this one on tongue weight and sway control)and made all the necessary adjustments, just to have an “RV specialist” and camp host tell us (on our very first outing) that our hitch and sway bars were not adjusted correctly. Talk about frustrating!
This section is here to help you. Maybe you’re still shopping, or maybe you have a new camper sitting in the driveway and you’re scared to death to take it out. (I know I was). From Glamping 101 to Camper Decorating Tips and campground know-how, I’ll share everything I’ve learned. Come back often and check out tips for getting started with RV life without the worry.
I will do my best to cover the things that helped me the most, plus my thoughts on gear, packing, and storage. If you have any specific topics you’d like me to address, just drop me a message in the box below.
